Help that points the way, instead of help that plays for you.
A hint highlights the pair that opens up the most of the board, so you can see a good move and still make it yourself.

Mahjong Solitaire — also spelled Mahjongg Solitaire — is a single-player tile-matching game played with the 144 tiles of a Mahjong set — the classic game, not a match-three variant. You clear the board by matching pairs of free tiles: tiles with nothing on top of them and at least one open side.
Three promises
A hint highlights the pair that opens up the most of the board, so you can see a good move and still make it yourself.
Boards are designed to the width of a real phone rather than squeezed to fit one. Tiles never drop below a comfortable touch size, and full screen means full screen.
Sets, tables, racks, mats and rooms. Everything you earn is a Mahjong object. No gems, no energy, no timers, and nothing you need in order to finish a board.
Daily Mahjong
Everyone gets the same deal each day. Miss a day and nothing resets — there is no streak to lose, nothing to buy back, and no warning telling you that you are about to lose your progress.
The board comes from the date rather than from a server, so everyone gets the same one without anybody keeping score.
Play today’s boardFriends
Send a friend the exact board you just played, or take the same deal at the same time and compare afterwards. It is private and invite-only, there is no public chat, and nobody has to win for it to be worth doing.
Collections
Tile sets, tables, racks, mats and whole rooms — painted, not generated. Pick a set and the table dresses itself around it. Collections unlock a component at a time rather than one tile at a time, so a half-finished collection is still something you can play with.

How to play
A tile is playable when nothing covers it and its left or right side is open. Tap two matching playable tiles to remove them. Clear the board and you have won. Blocked tiles are dimmed, so what you can play is always obvious.
The tiles are the American Mahjong set: Bams, Craks and Dots one through nine, four Winds, three Dragons and eight Flowers. After a few boards you will recognise them without ever having sat down to study them.
The full guide covers setting a tile aside, Hint, Undo and Rescue, and the stars.
