How to play
Everything you need, in a few short parts. Questions about sound, purchases or your account are on Help and support.
The goal
Clear the board by matching tiles in pairs. When the last pair goes, the board is won.
Every board is checked before it reaches you, so every board can be won. There are no timers and no lives: take as long as you like.
Which tiles you can take
A tile is free when nothing is lying on top of it and its left or right side is open. Tiles you cannot take yet are dimmed.
Tap one free tile, then tap its match. Tap a tile again to put it back down.
What matches
Every tile matches its identical twin: the same number and suit, the same wind, the same dragon.
Flowers are the exception. Any Flower matches any other Flower, even when the pictures are different.
Setting a tile aside
The two empty boxes under the board are for setting a tile aside. Use them when the tile you need is lying under another one: moving the top tile into a box can free the one beneath it.
- Tap a free tile to pick it up.
- Tap an empty box. The tile moves into it, and whatever it was covering may now be free.
- To match a tile in a box, tap it and its twin, in either order. Its twin can be on the board or in the other box.
- To put a tile back where it came from, tap it in the box, then tap it again.
- There are two boxes, so you can hold two tiles at once.
Hint, Undo and Rescue
Hint shows you a good pair. It costs 10 points.
Undo takes your last match back. It costs nothing: it returns exactly what that match scored. Use it as often as you like.
If you reach a point with no matches left, Rescue takes the board back to the last point it could still be won, for 25 points. Once a tile has been set aside on a board, Rescue is not offered there; use Undo instead.
Stars
A board can earn three stars: one for clearing it, one for clearing it with no hints, and one for clearing it with no undo. Using a box to set a tile aside counts like an undo, so that star then reads "No undo or hold".
Stars are for you. Nothing is ever locked behind them.
Journeys and the Daily
A Journey is a run of boards that grow gently harder as you travel from place to place. The tiles change along the way, and you can choose your own set at any time.
The Daily is one new board every day, the same for everyone. Miss a day and nothing is lost.
