Mahjong Solitaire That Never Leaves You Stuck
A board that starts solvable
Every deal in Mahjong Solitaire is checked before it reaches you, so the starting deal is never unsolvable. That's the whole promise, in one sentence.
If you've played Mahjong Solitaire before, you may know the feeling: you're down to a handful of tiles, and there's no legal move left. An unchecked shuffle can produce a board that can't be cleared. You restart, or you quit.
We built Mahjong Solitaire around preventing boards that can't be cleared because of a bad shuffle. Every board — whether it's one of the 100 levels in the Journey or today's Daily board — is pre-checked for solvability before it's ever shown to a player. The design intent is simple: the deal you get is one that can be played out, not a trap you have to gamble on.
Help that points, not help that plays for you
When you do get stuck on where to look, a hint highlights an available pair for you. It doesn't solve the board or walk you through a sequence — it just shows you one honest move, so the game stays yours to finish. That's deliberate. A board you can't lose to bad luck should still be a board you actually played, start to finish.
Built for the way people actually play
Tiles are sized to the width of a real phone screen, not squeezed down to fit one. Full screen means full screen — no cramped board trying to cram 144 tiles into a corner of your display.
Free to start, no ads
Mahjong Solitaire is free to play in your browser with no download and no registration required to start. There are no ads. The free tier includes the first ten Journey levels, every Daily board, and every helper — hint, undo, and rescue. If you want the rest of the Journey — the remaining 90 levels across locations like Lexington, Palm Beach, Newport, and New York — that's a one-time purchase. Currently $9.95; check the current price on the home page or the App Store listing rather than relying on any number printed here.
One board, shared fairly
The Daily board is generated from the date itself rather than pulled from a server, so every player gets the same deal on the same day with nobody keeping score behind the scenes. Miss a day and nothing resets — there's no streak to protect and no penalty waiting for you when you come back.
Learning the tiles, one board at a time
Mahjong Solitaire uses the real 144-tile American Mahjong set — Bams, Craks, Dots one through nine, four Winds, three Dragons, and eight Flowers — not a simplified match-three set. Play enough boards and you start recognizing the tiles without ever having sat down to study them. If you want to go further and learn how those same tiles are played in the real four-player game, Mahjong Lexington teaches American Mah Jongg from the first hand onward.
