Mahjong Solitaire on iPhone: What to Expect from the Companion App

Friends at Mahjong Solitaire is the iPhone companion app for the Mahjong Solitaire game you can also play free in your browser at mahjonggsolitaire.app.

Mahjong Solitaire on iPhone

If you're searching for Mahjong Solitaire on iPhone, there are two ways to play: the website at mahjonggsolitaire.app, which runs full screen in your mobile browser with no download or registration needed, and the companion iPhone app, Friends at Mahjong Solitaire, listed on the App Store. Both share the same game.

The game itself

Mahjong Solitaire is played with the real 144-tile American Mahjong set — Bams, Craks, Dots one through nine, four Winds, three Dragons, and eight Flowers — not a match-three variant. You clear the board by matching pairs of free tiles, and every deal is checked for solvability before it reaches you, so bad shuffles are designed out of the experience.

What's free, and what you can unlock

The free tier includes the first 10 levels of a 100-level Journey, the full Daily board rotation, and every helper — hint, undo, and rescue — with no account required and no ads at this time. Unlocking the rest of the Journey is a one-time purchase made once, which applies on both the app and the web; see current pricing on mahjonggsolitaire.app or the App Store listing. Purchases are handled through the App Store and tied to your account, the same as any paid app purchase.
